FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES HOSTED IP TELEPHONY IN GREATER SEATTLE
Provides Business Customers with Advanced, Reliable and Secure Connectivity and Mobility in the Workplace
Everett, Wash. (June 4, 2012) – Frontier Communications recently announced the launch of its suite of VoIP services for businesses, which includes Frontier Managed IP Telephony, SIP trunking and more in the greater Seattle area. The new services offer area businesses reliable, secure connectivity and enhanced workplace mobility.
VoIP is a technology that routes voice calls over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, reducing costs while enabling features that boost efficiency and productivity. Cost savings are achieved through reduced local, long-distance and international calls and by eliminating the need to maintain separate networks for voice and data.
Unlike many VoIP services, Frontier’s solution is delivered over a private, secure and dedicated network – not the public Internet – which is constantly monitored to route voice calls reliably, ensuring call quality. And because Frontier Managed IPT service is hosted and managed completely by Frontier, it requires a lower upfront investment, reduces operations and maintenance expenses, and eliminates hardware and software upgrades associated with equipment ownership. This in turn protects against technology obsolescence.
“Through the use of Frontier Managed IP Telephony, businesses here can now eliminate the need to purchase a premise-based PBX. Instead, Frontier administers the service and provides customers full access to advanced IP-based call management features via a web-based portal,” said Ken Baldwin, general manager for Frontier. “So there’s no upfront capital expense, no worry about equipment becoming obsolete, and no paying
for features that aren’t used. We’re pleased to bring this secure and reliable voice and data technology to Everett and surrounding communities.”
Frontier Managed IP Telephony is part of a suite of new solutions that Frontier is introducing to the area. Other solutions include VoIP-like services that allow businesses to continue using their current phone system or PBX:
IP Connect
Offers VoIP features by using an existing (non-IP) PBX or key phone system, integrating voice and data on one access circuit with SIP trunking. It supports PRI and FXS port interfaces and automatically prioritizes between voice and data traffic to reduce slowdowns and provide the best possible voice quality.
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking
Connects IP PBX telephone systems to the public switched telephone network via SIP trunks without a PSTN gateway required at the customer premise. SIP trunks also simplify administration and eliminate the need to manage and maintain separate voice and data networks. This reduces costs for local access and local, long-distance and international calls. Plus, SIP trunking offers scalability, since more calling trunks can be added without the need for digital analog station (port) cards.
